Every ebook needs a cover, whether it’s a lead magnet, a KDP title or a PLR ebook you’re rebranding. And the generators have finally gotten good enough at text to put your title right on it.

Here’s the prompt from my toolbox.

The filled prompt
A professional ebook cover, portrait, for a nonfiction guide titled "The Backyard Chicken Handbook" with the subtitle "Raise a Happy, Healthy Flock". Image: a hen and three chicks in front of a red coop at golden hour, photorealistic. The title in large bold serif lettering across the top third, the subtitle in smaller lettering right under it. Clean, uncluttered layout with strong contrast so the title reads at thumbnail size. No author name and no other text.

Title and subtitle both spelled right, big enough to read at thumbnail size, with a warm golden hour scene behind them.

Make It Yours!

Swap in your title, subtitle and scene.

The template
A professional ebook cover, portrait, for a nonfiction guide titled "[TITLE]" with the subtitle "[SUBTITLE]". Image: [ONE CLEAR SCENE], photorealistic. The title in large bold [serif or sans-serif] lettering across the top third, the subtitle in smaller lettering right under it. Clean, uncluttered layout with strong contrast so the title reads at thumbnail size. [Author name "YOUR NAME" at the bottom, or: No author name] and no other text.

QUICK TIP: keep the scene to one clear subject. A hen and her chicks reads at a glance. A whole farm with a tractor, a barn and a sunset does not.

The Line You Should Not Touch!

“Clean, uncluttered layout with strong contrast so the title reads at thumbnail size.”

Leave that one alone. A lot of shoppers see your cover as a tiny square on a store page or in an email, and this is the line that keeps your title from getting lost.

Full Disclosure

I asked for three chicks and got four. Nobody’s going to return an ebook over an extra chick, but if a count matters on your cover, check it. And always read the title letter by letter before you publish.

Want to show it off as a 3D book? The ebook mockup prompts turn a flat cover into a product shot.

Need The Ebook Too?

Got the cover but not the book? That’s what PLR is for. My shop has done-for-you ebooks you can edit, put your name on and use as your own.

Go make a cover. Judging books by them is still very much allowed.
