A holiday gift guide is one of the best affiliate posts you can write all year. People are searching for gift ideas, they’re ready to buy, and you already know what your readers love.

Here’s the prompt from my toolbox that writes the whole post around the gifts you pick, so it doesn’t make up products or prices.

The filled prompt
Help me write a holiday gift guide blog post.

My blog: backyard chickens and small homesteads
Title idea: Gifts for the Backyard Chicken Keeper
The gifts (these are the only ones to include): a heated waterer, a chicken saddle apron for egg collecting, a coop thermometer, a backyard chicken care book, a ceramic egg skelter for the counter, a pair of good garden gloves

For each gift give me a short heading, 2 or 3 sentences on who it's perfect for and why a chicken keeper would want it, and a [LINK] placeholder. Group them into "Under $25" and "Worth the splurge" with [PRICE] placeholders, since I'll check prices myself. Add a short friendly intro and a one-line close.

Do not invent prices, specs, brand names, reviews or personal stories. If you want to say something only I would know, leave a [BRACKET]. Add a one-line affiliate disclosure under the intro.

I ran it in Gemini for a backyard chicken blog. It came back with a short intro, the affiliate disclosure and all six gifts, each with a heading, a couple of sentences on who it’s for and [LINK] and [PRICE] slots.

It wrote the saddle apron as “perfect for the keeper who needs their hands free while gathering the daily harvest,” which is exactly the pitch. And it left a bracket in the intro for a personal note about my flock instead of inventing one.

The Line You Should Not Touch!

“Do not invent prices, specs, brand names, reviews or personal stories.”

Leave that one alone. A gift guide with a made-up price or a fake review is how you lose a reader’s trust right before the biggest shopping season of the year.

Full Disclosure

It sorted the gifts into “Under $25” and “Worth the splurge” without knowing a single price. It guessed. Move them once you’ve checked real prices.

It also called them “a few of my favorite essentials,” and I never said that. If you haven’t used something, don’t let the post say you have. Want more post ideas for the season? The 30 blog post ideas prompt has you covered.
